Our activities
GASA's activities are based on two main pillars:
Education and Agriculture
1
EDUCATION
Through GASA's actions in the adolescent education sector, young people and women find a space to train and discover their potential. These activities are focused on the development of reflection and debate clubs, intercommunity meetings and dialogues.
These activities also consider the development of the leadership of our target groups, their involvement and active participation in the programs in order to strengthen their capacities and to be able to express their opinion, make decisions and undertake initiatives that concern them. This program aims to instill in them moral, intellectual, spiritual and cultural values, transcendence for unity in diversity.
Regarding the Vocational Development of Youth, activities are based on facilitating learning opportunities in different technical fields through the Disarmament Vocational School (EPD) such as Environmental Management and Agricultural Production, Building Construction, Plumbing, Electricity and Renewable Energy, Diesel Auto Mechanics, Accounting and Computer Science. GASA also trains amateurs in plumbing, masonry, mechanics, sanitation technology and community hygiene.
In terms of non-formal education, GASA provides training to community leaders and young people on the following themes: Democracy, Local Development Leadership, Eco-responsibility, Citizen, Citizenship, Youth, Citizen Participation, Civic Commitments, Human Rights, Women's and Minors' Rights, Gender-Based Violence, Entrepreneurship, Food Insecurity, Community Violence, Social Therapy and Post-Earthquake Trauma, Forum Theater and Community Development.
2
AGRICULTURE
Based on the assumption that agriculture is one of the greatest sources of wealth and employment in Haiti, particularly in rural areas, GASA believes that it is important to focus its work on the revitalization of agriculture.
These activities focus on strengthening the knowledge of adolescents (6-15 years) and young people (16-30) in a variety of sustainable agricultural techniques, focused on agro-sylvo-pastoral. GASA also encourages the creation of Income Generating Activities (IGA) and the development of value chains.
To facilitate the revitalization of the sector
-
GASA is establishing an agri-food processing center which encourages agricultural producers and creates jobs for women in particular;
-
GASA establishes an animal production farm and a grain production farm;
-
GASA establishes a nursery for increasing vegetation cover and biodiversity and for mitigating climate change. GASA carries out awareness programs, technical support for agricultural producers, breeders, GASA organizes soil and water conservation activities, reforestation days, etc.
